Williamsburg HRC’s therapy department decided to saddle up and create a ‘Wild West Week’ in honor of National Therapy Week. It was a rootin’-tootin’ good time consisting of residents and staff wearing cowboy hats, pretending to have six-shooters, riding stick horses and enjoying tasty root beer floats.
They also set the scene by decorating the nursing facility with intricate detail. Posters of rustic saloon doors were put in doorways, steer skulls were attached to the wall and a cutout of a cactus was used as a popular prop. On top of all of the fun, the staff put together a silent auction as well as conducting hotdog sales, which raised over $1,600 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
